Emily, Molly and Christina are three students in Debbie Goh’s NEW MEDIA AND SOCIETY class at West Virginia University. We are looking into how New Media is impacting the environment, specifically the GREEN movement. This focus ranges from social as well as natural environments. Here is a little bit about each of us!

Emily
Hi! I am a junior, duel english and psychology major at WVU. Originally from outside Cleveland, OH I became interested in sustainability through an internship at BrownFlynn over the summer of 2009. Through this experience I was able to learn much about the corporate benefits of sustainable practices, and saw them successfully executed for bottom-line impact in various settings. When presented with the New Media syllabus and the opportunity to blog about a certain subject in relationship to modern media, I was excited to implement my new-found passion for sustainability. New media itself is, needless to say, a huge part of the life of a college student. With Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn being the three most valuable networking tools (both socially and scholarly) it is impossible for any student to ignore new media!

Molly
Hi! My name is Molly and I am a senior at West Virginia University.  I am a Biology, Spanish and Political Science major from Charleston, WV.  Studying different things gives me a great opportunity to combine some of my interests.  One thing that I am interested in is the relationship between science and politics.  I love the science behind the GREEN movement and looking at all of the awesome new GREEN technology from a scientific point of view and incorporating it into the political world.  I also love all the the new media and technology available to us today. I sign onto Facebook on my iPhone between every class (and during every class!) and love to be up to date on Coach Stew’s Twitter to know what is going on with our football team!  I can’t wait to start this blog and start talking about the science behind the GREEN =)

Christina
Hey, I’m Christina and I’m a freshman at West Virginia University, originally from Cumberland, Maryland,  majoring in Fashion Design and Merchandising. I’m interested in the interactions between sustainable living and sustainable design practices. Today’s new media influences the trends of today and how we incorporate them into our lives. New Media can be used to inject sustainable design practices to our lives as well to make our world a greener place.
